HELPFUL HINTS TO MAINTAIN YOUR WINDOW FURNISHINGS
CURTAINS:
Our Curtains are professionally hand draped
so that the pleats form correctly. The Drapes must be tied back
for at least 3 days. You will find that your drapes will fall beautifully
if you heed to this rule.
DRY CLEANING:
Please contact us when your Curtains are in
need of dry cleaning. Our Company can arrange for a pick up and
re hang service for you and supply temporary curtains whilst you
are without your curtains. We will come to your home and measure
your drapes whilst they are hanging, this ensures that they come
back to you looking as good as when they were first installed. Using
our dry cleaning service, we guarantee that the lining does not
shrink, crack or peel. 100% peace of mind.
SHEER / LACE:
To keep your sheers and lace looking fresh
and bright, they should be hand washed every six months in a mild
detergent and hung to dry whilst still damp to eliminate the need
for ironing. Just place some plastic or paper down on the floor
to protect the carpet and allow the curtains to drip dry. If you
need help with removing and washing, we can help you for a small
charge.
TRACKS:
Please make sure that your cord operated tracks
are opened and closed by the cord. Do not push your curtains back
by hand. Also make sure that the cord is not being pulled towards
you eg: you are to stand beside the cord and have the cord hanging
straight down. If you want to close your drapes by hand you need
to have the cord removed so it doesn't jam up the track. Servicing
of your Tracks is costly so please follow the right operation and
it will save you time and money.
HOLLAND BLINDS:
Make sure that your blinds are treated with
care. Do not let them go when you are pulling them down as this
will damage the spring system. Avoid pulling a spring blind down
to its fullest as sometimes they won't retract. (If the blinds are
going up too fast, remove from the brackets and unwind slowly, rewind
up by hand loosely and replace in the brackets. If the blinds are
going up and down too slowly, take down and rewind by hand this
makes it a little tighter than it was. Please ask us on how you
do the above). Ensure that you are pulling the blind down from the
centre of the blind, or you could have the blind running off centre
and causing it to fray on the side. If you are still having a problem
with them, call into the store and we can test the blind here for
you. Old faulty springs can be replaced for as little as $25.00
per blind, or you can update to a side control with chain for as
little as $35.00 per blind.
TIMBER BLINDS:
Any blind over a water trough needs to be
pulled up so as water will not splash onto and spoil slats. These
can be cleaned and re-oiled for you. Please ring for details.
NEW PRODUCTS:
You can have your old spring replaced with
a new Auto System. Call into the store and we can show you the new
system and how it works.
VERTICALS:
Do not open and close your verticals whilst
the blades are in the shut position. They must be in the open position
first. Ring our store for wash and cleaning instructions.
SUN BLINDS:
Take care of your blinds in high winds, please
retract your blinds back into the box. Also avoid retracting your
blinds whilst they are still wet, please wait until they have dried
to avoid mildew. At the start of each summer pull your blinds right
down and wet thoroughly and allow to dry. Bird droppings should
be removed with water and a soft brush. A great idea is to pull
your blinds down at the start of daylight summer and then retract
at the end of daylight saving time.
FADING:
No fabric is guaranteed against fading. We
recommend that all windows are installed with UV protected tinting
to protect fabrics against the severe summer/winter UV rays. Forefront
